For Veterans & First Responders
Confidential Addiction and PTSD Treatment for Those Who Served
Trauma-informed PHP, IOP, virtual IOP and MAT in Cherry Hill, NJ for veterans, police, fire, EMS and dispatch across South Jersey.
Veterans and first responders carry things most people never see. Combat exposure, repeated critical incidents, chronic pain, and years of being the person everyone else calls for help make substance use easy to start and hard to talk about. Cherry Hill Recovery Center provides confidential outpatient addiction treatment in Cherry Hill, NJ for veterans, active service members, police, fire, EMS, and dispatch personnel across South Jersey.
Our PHP, IOP, and Virtual IOP programs treat the substance use and the trauma underneath it at the same time. You do not have to leave your job, your family, or your unit to get real clinical care.
Trauma and Substance Use Belong in the Same Treatment Plan
Treating drinking or opioid use without treating PTSD rarely holds. Most veterans and first responders we see are managing symptoms, not chasing a high — sleep that will not come, a startle response that will not settle, images that will not leave. Our dual-diagnosis programming addresses both together.
- Trauma-informed individual therapy with licensed clinicians who understand service culture.
- CBT and DBT skills for hypervigilance, anger, panic, and sleep disruption.
- Psychiatric evaluation and medication management for PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
- Group therapy where you are not the only person in the room who has run calls or deployed.
- Relapse prevention built around shift work, on-call schedules, and drill weekends.
Common Patterns We Treat
- Alcohol use that started as decompressing after shift and became nightly and necessary.
- Prescription painkillers after a line-of-duty or service-connected injury that outlasted the injury.
- Opioid or fentanyl use that followed a pill prescription running out.
- Benzodiazepines prescribed for anxiety or sleep that now need higher doses to work.
- Stimulants used to get through back-to-back shifts and overtime.
Schedules That Work With Shifts and Duty
Rotating shifts, mandatory overtime, and drill weekends are the reason a lot of people never start treatment. We schedule around them.
- Evening IOP three nights a week for people working days.
- Virtual IOP by secure telehealth, available anywhere in New Jersey — useful during deployment-adjacent duty or long shift blocks.
- Session swaps when a shift changes, instead of being marked non-compliant.
- Detox referral coordination first if you need medical stabilization before outpatient care.
Confidentiality for People Whose Job Depends on It
Firearms qualification, security clearance, and department reputation are real concerns. Your treatment records are protected by HIPAA and by 42 CFR Part 2, the federal rule written specifically for substance use records. We do not contact your department, your command, or your union without your written authorization.
If your department, EAP, or a fitness-for-duty process requires documentation, we can provide a formal drug and alcohol evaluation and attendance reporting — but only what you authorize, and only to whom you authorize it.
Medication-Assisted Treatment When Opioids Are Involved
For opioid use disorder, medication is not a shortcut — it is the standard of care. MAT at Cherry Hill Recovery Center includes Suboxone and monthly Sublocade injections, prescribed and monitored by our medical team alongside therapy. The monthly injection is often a better fit for people who do not want a daily medication in a shared locker room or on a rig.
Family, Peers, and What Comes After
Recovery holds better when the people around you understand it. We involve spouses and family members when you want that, and our family guide explains what to expect. For patients whose home situation is not stable enough for early recovery, recovery housing is an optional support.
Not sure which level of care fits? Take our level of care quiz or call and talk it through with a clinician.
Insurance and Cost
We work with most major insurance plans. Our admissions team verifies exactly what your plan pays before you start, so there are no surprises. Verification is free and takes a few minutes.
